Sir William Robertson
Below is a scan of an article found in the office building of Welbourn Farms LTD. This article is a biography of Sir William Robertson (1860- 1933), a prominent local character, born in Welbourn. He acted as Chief of the Imperial General Staff from 1916-18 during the First World War. He is the first and only British Army Soldier to rise from the rank of Private to Field Marshal.
