NEWS: NEON create temporary sculpture for Sleaford
A new temporary artwork for Sleaford created by design duo NEON was launched in Navigation Yard, outside The National Centre for Craft and Design (NCCD) on Saturday 6 October.
Design duo NEON (Mark Nixon and Viliina Koivisto) worked with the local community and gallery visitors to cultivate ideas for the new artwork, during their recent residency at NCCD.
Taking inspiration from the fact that the NCCD building used to be a seed warehouse NEON developed a design based on how seeds look under the microscope. Gallery visitors had had the opportunity to sew the many green and yellow ‘cones’ that make up the artwork.
The artwork was launched at at a special Block Party event, with the local community enjoying music, refreshments and craft activities to celebrate the completion of the temporary sculpture.
