A beautiful new artwork map commissioned by Welbourn Parish Council for the Welbourn Heritage Trail is being installed at Welbourn Village Hall in Lincolnshire, using lino-print artwork created by local residents and artists.
You are invited to celebrate with us, and create your own memento of the Welbourn Trail. At our workshop you can buy a tile, mug or plate to decorate with ceramic image transfers.
The Welbourn Heritage Trail booklets were published by artsNK and The National Centre for Craft & Design in 2017 as part of Ridges & Furrows to celebrate local history and significant landmarks. Written by local resident Bill Goodhand, the Welbourn Trail helps people to understand previous uses of houses, land and footpaths, as well as sharing interesting stories about characters from the village’s past.
A series of craft workshops in 2019 supported children from Welbourn School and local residents to create designs inspired by the houses and buildings along the trail, creating unique lino-prints. These have been selected and scanned and added to a new map design, which has now been fabricated into a carefully crafted enamelled artwork panel. Locally-based artists Harriott Brand, Nadya Monfrinoli and Louise Jones led the workshops, and the map design was created by Justin Sawkins.
