Artworks
We have commissioned contemporary artists, photographers, designer-makers and dancers to create new artworks that are inspired by the history, heritage and people of locations along the Ridges & Furrows Arts & Heritage trail. Many of the artworks have been created by working closely with residents of the towns and villages involved to celebrate what is unique about the places where they live.
In 2015 five artists carried out residencies in Welbourn, North Hykeham, Sleaford and Waddington to build links with local groups, carry out initial research and develop ideas for new projects.
In 2016 we worked with visual artist Lyndall Phelps and jewellery designer Miranda Sharpe in Welbourn. In North Hykeham musicians Jo Freya and Crauford Thomson were appointed, along with visual artists Ruth Piggott and Nadya Monfrinoli and Zaq Andel – a circus maker and director from circusMASH UK.
Following a series of temporary artworks in 2017 artist duo Grennan & Sperandio developed six permanent artworks entitled Emblems for the Waddington Heritage Trail.
Design duo NEON were in residency in Sleaford in 2018, and alongside their exhibition at The National Centre for Craft and Design they developed a new temporary artwork for Sleaford.
